ALL ABOUT BOLA
How we got here: BOLA granola
BOLA granola wasn’t born yesterday. Our roots go back decades, from a pottery camp in California, across the country to my kitchen in the Berkshire Hills, and now to our bakery here at the foot of Monument Mountain.
I’ve been making the granola for a long time, but never for sale. In 2009, I began selling locally in the Berkshires to Guido’s and the Berkshire Co-op and even further afield. Now BOLA granola is found at Whole Foods Markets, Wegmans and Big Y stores along with hundreds of independent stores from Maine to New Jersey to Florida.
Along the way, we’ve made lots of friends. We can’t be in every store, but we can ship it freshly made to your door. We ship our handmade BOLA granola across the country, all to the way to California and even Hawaii and London.
BOLA granola, 20% Nuts
All of our granolas rely on oats, almonds and pumpkin seeds for hearty, high protein nutrition and fresh, nutty flavor. Each serving of BOLA granola is packed with protein and fiber from these three ingredients. We add a little sweet, a little salt and excellent vanilla. Nothing else. We mix it all together and toast it to a perfect crunch…36 pounds at a time, now that is small batch!
Recently, we introduced BOLA granola GLUTEN-FREE and BOLA granola Barely Sweet because you wanted it. Our BOLA bar is like no other, GLUTEN-FREE, nutritious and naturally crunchy. Our granolas are Verified by the Non-GMO Project and always VEGAN.
About Michèle
I found a passion for good food as a child, as I watched my Parisian mother turn out delicious dinners and crêpes for dessert. I discovered early on that food brings pleasure to those that make it and those that eat it.
I began my professional career at Alice’s Restaurant, made famous by Arlo Guthrie. In 1975, I opened Suchèle Bakers, a tiny store front bakery in Lenox, Massachusetts. There I produced artisanal breads, European pastries and all-American pies, baking everything from scratch.
In 1983 I opened the Old Inn on the Green, which became the Berkshires first prix-fixe restaurant, focused on local and regional cooking and simple, comforting foods. Followed by the iconic Boiler Room Cafè in 1987, which I ran as chef and owner until closing it in 1997. For several years I traveled the world in private aviation, catering meals in a tiny galley at 35,000 feet. BOLA granola launched locally in 2008.
As they say, the rest is history. Everyday brings new friends and challenges. Our mission is to consistently produce the best granola for you, for freshness, for taste and for health. We’ll stay true to that “Small is Beautiful” ethos on which we were founded. We can’t feed everyone, but we can make sure that each of our customers gets the best BOLA granola: Original, GLUTEN-FREE and Barely Sweet.
As we like to say, “Trifles make perfection, but perfection is no trifle.” We think BOLA granola is perfect and hope you will too.
A Berkshire Original…BOLA loves you back!
